Welcome to the Dame Shirley Bassey Archive for 1969. The images are in chronological order to the best of my knowledge. 1969 begins with TV appearances on Ed Sullivan, Jonathan Winters, and a week long stint on the Mike Douglas Show followed by a guest shot on The Spring Thing due to Dame Shirley's tax exile status she was unable to enter the UK. Concerts in Stockholm and Australia and Italy then back to the USA for David Frost TV a season at the Waldorf Astoria and the Elmwood Casino ending the year with a guesting on the Red Skelton show. The 4 songs included are Medley Goin Out Of My Head /You Go To My Head, plus Does Anybody Miss Me and Concerto D'Autunno. I have been collecting Dame Shirley for over 45 years and have digitised my entire collection by date from newspapers, magazines, photos, programs, sheet music and of course the music. I hope this series of videos will help tell Dame Shirley's story in a lineal way for fans new and old. As a child whenever I found a photo of Dame Shirley I would wonder what the story behind the picture was, and I still do. I would cut out news clippings and put together multiple scrapbooks, then the internet came along and an explosion of knowledge. Now I know some of the stories behind many of the photos and hope you get enjoyment in finding these stories too.
