Shooting pain down your arm or pins and needles in your fingers? You may be suffering from a pinched nerve in your neck, also known as cervical radiculopathy. In this video, I’m going to cover everything - from when you should go straight to the ER to safe, effective neck pain relief exercises you can do at home. If you’ve recently experienced trauma, like a fall or a hit during sports, and you have numbness or tingling, head to the ER immediately to rule out serious injury. For everyone else, stick with me because the approach I’m sharing targets the root causes of your pain for lasting relief - without surgery. We’ll start with some basic anatomy so you understand what a pinched nerve in the neck actually is. The cervical spine has seven vertebrae with discs in between. These discs can wear down or herniate, pressing on nerves and causing the radiating pain and numbness you feel. But pain doesn’t always come from tissue damage alone - that’s why neck pain relief without surgery focuses on movement, alignment, and muscle activation. I’ll guide you through a series of gentle yet effective cervical radiculopathy exercises designed to decompress the spine, release tight muscles, restore good alignment, and stabilize your neck. The routine begins with cervical spine decompression using a stability ball to create space around the nerves. Next, we perform active self-myofascial release on the lateral neck muscles to ease tension. Then, the supine chin tuck helps restore proper neck posture, followed by six-way isometric exercises to strengthen deep neck muscles for support and pain relief. These neck pain relief exercises are safe to do daily and can reduce your symptoms gradually over several weeks. Consistency is key, and avoiding movements or activities that irritate your neck will help speed up recovery.
