Now that you know what a primary system IS (watch part 1 if you haven't already)...let's talk about which one fits the work you actually do. Here's what most people don't realize..RYB and CMY have different color ranges (gamuts). RYB is rich and vibrant in the red-to-gold range...but loses vibrancy in violets and greens. CMY is the opposite... vibrant violets and greens, but flatter in the red-to-gold area. So which one would matter most for YOU? Depends on what you work with most... Oxidative hair color pigments cluster in the inside of the wheel or triangle (there's not much need for a huge color range) Natural hair (melanin) lives close to the center of the wheel/triangle and when it lifts it tends to live in the richer red-to-gold range Direct Dyes.. live in the vibrant regions. You typically want them to stay vibrant for longer. The color most stylists use everyday (oxidative) AND the canvas they work ON both live in RYB's strongest area That's why RYB gives you a nice navigation tool that actually matches your tubes and your canvas better... CMY is great for direct dyes when you want to stay vibrant and light (vivid work for the win!). But for oxidative color on natural or lifted hair...RYB fits what you're doing really well. This video broke down the color range differences, each system's pluses and minuses, and why one matches your daily work better than the other. Now that you know which tool fits what you work with and what it's for... now it's time to ask yourself... Do you know HOW to use your tool to navigate your colors where you want them to go? THAT'S what really matters! You have this cool tool but if you don't know how to use it, it's not going to seem like much help to you...you'll literally miss out on all it's magic ✨️ If you need guidance on learning how to use it when you formulate your hair colors, visit us here...we'll walk you through it! https://colorswithchemistry.thinkific... #themoreyouknow🌈
