We are new to the Hudson Valley and hiking with young kids, so we're starting small and easy. Nothing could have been easier than our family hike to Awosting Falls in Minnewaska State Park today! About 1.5 miles round trip from Peter Kill's Area Parking Lot (which had nice bathrooms) - pretty much flat carriage road (bike & stroller friendly gravel trail - perfect for hiking with young children), along a meandering stream which was really fun for the kids to jump over and run along. Be sure to get there pretty much when parking lots open at 9AM - $10 per car and they fill up quickly! Visiting Awosting Falls in summer was great, though Awosting Falls in August wasn't all that impressive since it's practically dried up, but if you go in early spring or after a heavy rain it's probably amazing! If you want a tougher hike, you can find ways to get up and over the falls, go down to Minnewaska Lake, etc. But we called it a day after 3 hours and headed to nearby New Paltz for lunch before going home! Stay tuned to my Hudson Valley with Kids playlist for our highlights as we explore our new home out of NYC and find out the best things to do with kids in Hudson Valley: • Hudson Valley with Kids
