Let's have fun and play with liquid watercolors in this relaxed step-by-step Watercolour Class! We are going to explore some neat techniques, I'll share my setup, paper & brushes used, the bit about watercolors and some helpful tips for painting. I created this over the span of a few days, but you can paint in about an hour. The point is to relax, have fun and let your intuition take over. Start by gathering your watercolor supplies. I love ecoline liquid watercolors if you have them and if not, that’s OK too. Different brands are great and regular watercolours work as well. Grab some synthetic watercolor brushes that you don’t mind getting stained and some decent paper. I like Canson XL for this project because the price point is good and it has sizing that holds the water off the paper. That means that we can have more time playing with colours and layering! I would also suggest getting some dedicated pallets for the watercolours because they are quite staining and you don’t want them to cross over into other art supplies. But you don’t have to spend a ton of money! You never know what you find at your local dollar store cheapo ceramic plates are my favorite, if you can’t find a ceramic palette. Once you’ve got everything ready, be sure you have a level surface and something underneath your paper that will protect your table. I use a huge cutting mat on top of a piece of smooth plywood that I got for cheap at the local lumberyard. This way I don’t have to worry about the watercolour staining the surface because drops spills and, things happen along the way. Now it’s time to paint along in real time as we blend colors, experiment with textures, and let our emotions flow onto the paper. Or settle in for a cozy view and learn about the watercolor process. At the end you’re going to have a beautiful flower that you have created and something that will bring you a bit of joy and happiness when you look at it. Whether you paint with me or are just enjoying the vibe, I want to say thanks for being here and I hope you enjoy the video! As always, please feel free to ask me any questions – I answer them all myself and I love to hear from you!
