Atlantic Crossing Ep 3 of 4 - Sailing Azores to Lagos

Part three of the story of our crossing of the North Atlantic Ocean on our 37 foot sailboat, Windrush. In this episode, we sail almost 1,000 nautical miles from the remote Ilha das Flores to the storied harbor of Horta on Faial, then on to Ponta Delgada on São Jorge as we cruise through the beautiful Azores archipelago before our last offshore Atlantic leg to Lagos on mainland Portugal. We farewell our wonderful "long passage" crew after 2,000 miles of open ocean and welcome Colleen and Ellie for the final push to Europe. Our landfall on the dramatic coast of Portugal amid cliffs bathed in the golden glow of a sun setting over the Atlantic we had just crossed will always be etched in our memories. In beautiful Lagos we met up with a friend who took us to a Fado concert, enjoyed the luxuries of marina life - like food not prepared in a rocking galley - and even got our first tatoos!
