Finally got around to making a video up in American Fork Canyon (Aka "AF Canyon" locally). Despite having a lot of overhang and trees, it's still a prime fishing ground for anyone willing to pullover at random spots and find those fishing holes. Definitely bring a shorter rod. For this trip, I was using a 7' 3wt Fenwick Aetos. It's my go-to rod because it can handle fish up to 24" long no problem, while giving a lot of feedback and being compact enough to go anywhere. I ended up fishing sort of Tenkara stye with a fixed line technique in order to catch fish in some places to avoid tangles. American Fork has a flow where you have maybe about 3-4 feet of great fishing waters before a bush, cascade, or boulder interrupts your drift - as such, using a lot of focus on positioning and technique is going to get you more fish than worrying about the type of flies, droppers, weights, etc. Definitely recommend checking this location out.
