A look at 0-4-0 saddle tank steam locomotive in operation at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday 21st June 2014. The Manchester Museum of Science and Industry is situated on the site of the world's first railway station - Liverpool Road railway station - which opened as part of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in September 1830. The train station frontage and 1830 warehouse are both Grade I listed. The museum offers steam train rides at weekends and on bank holidays as seen in this video. Agecroft Number 1 was built in Newcastle in 1948 and worked at Agecroft Power Station about 3 miles away from the museum. Retired in 1980 after 32 years shunting coal wagons to feed the power station boilers, the locomotive was bought privately and saved from the scrapheap. Agecroft Number 1 arrived at the museum in 2008 in a dismantled state and after 3 years of restoration by the Volunteers and staff is back in full working order.
