Protesters from Peru's self-described Generation Z movement clashed with police in Lima on Wednesday (January 28) as they demanded the resignation of interim President Jose Jeri over an alleged corruption scandal and his dismissed rape charge . The scandal, dubbed “Chifagate” by local media, began after Jeri’s undisclosed meetings with a Chinese businessman, Zhihua Yang, between December and January.
