The night before the course of professional wrestling changed. People forget who all was there; who all had eyes on what was happening. But the tape doesn't lie. I was closing out dates at this point; I had finished work with Jimmy Jacobs on his storyline in the promotion but had some tag-alongs I had months prior agreed to give a ride to/etc.; as much as I didn't really want to be at this show, especially knowing I would be leaving soon, I wanted to document some of it along with my normal work. I only have two different short tapes stashed somewhere, just waiting to be seen, likely soon if I can get enough strength to work my PC enough. But I felt at the beginning of this night I had made my point fairly clearly enough---the fact we had scouts watching us like mad told me a lot of what the non-Ian contingent were doing, was working. I was merely a part of it, but most of them were over at ROH or other bookings the next night. Gave me a number to reach out to if shit goes down (because even back then, I didn't trust the cops). I'm pretty sure the next night day I got in touch with that number. But I knew too well what the fuck they were trying to pull and how they intended to use me. Didn't fall for it; though I played dumb for quite awhile just to see who all was in it for what reasons. Too bad I've forgotten all of it, but I certainly know what I did about it. I was still talking to Punk and others too. Might have been the one and only time someone from outside the business walked in and in 2 years learned how to out-work the boys, the office, and production all at once. But by the time it was up, it was too late. SMV might not have died, but anyone that wanted to keep their ethics and morals stopped doing business. I provided a provable business strategy that independent promotions could use that would allow them to operate at low costs that could also be used for crossover promotion that was mutually beneficial to both the fans and the various companies. And no one wanted to accept that was the magic, not the matches I helped put together. It was always the business I did, logistics, etc. they never paid any mind to being important...... until it was gone. They thought I had an ego issue.... until I left, and everything I said came to pass.
