Coffee makers get hit in China as more Chinese crave for home-brewed coffee after wake-up

Not even all the tea in China can change people's growing taste lately… for coffee. The beverage is gaining popularity across the country with fresh brewed coffee taking center stage to instant. As a result, sales are percolating for the latest and greatest home coffee machines. The manager of a small appliance shop in east China says semi-automatic and bean-to-cup machines are amongst their best-sellers. Data from China's e-commerce giant Tmall.com shows a steady increase in coffee machine sales in the first six months of 2022. In May alone, sales surged by more than 200 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the sales boom is spilling over to exports with Chinese coffee machine producers say they're seeing an increase in orders.
