👉 Claypot Sesame Chicken at Malaysia Boleh! Great World City Food Adventure 🍚🔥$7.50 Dinner Worth It?

Dinner at Malaysia Boleh in Great World City – Claypot Sesame Chicken Delight! Great World City is more than just a shopping mall – it’s a landmark filled with decades of transformation and history. Nestled along Kim Seng Promenade, this integrated development includes a six-storey shopping mall, office tower, and serviced apartments, but it didn’t always look like this. Originally opened in 1997, Great World City was built on the site of the former Great World Amusement Park, also known locally as Tua Seh Kai (Hokkien for “Great World”). This legendary amusement park was one of Singapore’s iconic trio of amusement parks – the other two being New World and Gay World. Back in its heyday from the 1920s to 1970s, Great World was a hotspot for entertainment, with cinemas, cabaret halls, game stalls, shopping, and street food. Families would flock there for weekend fun, while couples would enjoy date nights watching black-and-white films or riding the carousel. After the amusement park closed in the 1970s, the site was redeveloped and eventually became the Great World City mall that we know today. It underwent a major revamp in recent years, especially with the opening of the Great World MRT station (TEL) in 2022, making it more accessible than ever. The mall now blends modernity with nostalgic charm – especially in the food choices. One of those places that brings the nostalgic feel of Malaysia and old-school street food is Malaysia Boleh! – a food court concept by Fei Siong Group. Located on the basement level of Great World City, Malaysia Boleh! is designed to resemble an old-style Malaysian hawker street, complete with vintage decor, neon signboards, and food stalls styled like roadside eateries. You’ll find famous street food dishes from different parts of Malaysia, including Penang char kway teow, Ipoh hor fun, and KL Hokkien mee. Today, I had my dinner there and was drawn to the Claypot Sesame Chicken – served bubbling hot in a traditional claypot. It was a glorious sight. The dark, glistening sauce was rich with sesame oil and soy, bubbling with juicy chicken chunks and slices of ginger. The aroma of sesame and spices hit me immediately as the server passed the sizzling claypot over. Served with a generous portion of white rice, the dish cost $7.50 – not bad for a hearty meal in a mall! Taste-wise, it was spot on. The sauce was thick, savoury with a hint of sweetness, and every piece of chicken was tender and well-marinated. The claypot kept the dish warm throughout the meal, making each bite satisfying. It’s definitely one of those comforting dishes that brings back the feeling of home-cooked food. Whether you're a local foodie or a tourist looking to experience the essence of Malaysian flavors in Singapore, Malaysia Boleh! at Great World City is a must-visit. It’s a great example of how food can bring back memories and celebrate heritage – all within a modern shopping space that used to be one of Singapore’s most beloved amusement parks. #travel #foodie #singapore If you like my channel please like , subscribe and share.
