Video & story summary credited to San Diego Police Department: https://www.sandiego.gov On Thursday, December 8 just after 4:30 p.m., San Diego Police Department Officers were dispatched to the U-Haul business in the 4300 block of El Cajon Boulevard regarding an unknown male adult standing in the roadway, acting erratically. San Diego Police Officers arrived and contacted the man, later identified as 35-year-old, Daniel Joseph Armenta, standing in a gas station parking lot in the 4300 block of El Cajon Boulevard. Armenta was placed in handcuffs without incident. Officers immediately requested paramedics when they noticed Armenta was displaying signs of excited delirium. He then became unresponsive. Officers then removed Armenta's handcuffs, performed CPR and administered naloxone. They continued performing life-saving measures until firefighters and paramedic arrived on the scene. Despite their best efforts, Armenta was pronounced deceased just after 5:00 p.m. There is body-worn camera footage of the incident. The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation. The Medical Examiner's Office has been notified of the death.
