Hello Everyone! Today I will be showing you an acrylic pour pearl cell technique & Dutch pour combo. I have been experimenting with different recipes lately (as you probably already know) and I think I found one that I really really like! So last year when I came up with this pearl cell recipe I was using the Behr Scuff Defense Satin Enamel Deep Base 7753 to mix with my colors and that worked awesome! Then I was watching another artist and she uses the Behr Premium Plus Satin Enamel Deep Base 7300 so I bought that thinking it would react the same. At the same time I was trying different recipes for the pearl cells with the Artist Loft White from 2021 and that was a mess. Changing the base and the Artist Loft White at the same time was a BAD idea because it set me on a rollercoaster of experiments. I finally decided to try the Scuff Defense Deep Base 7753 again just to see what the difference is...AND IT WAS VERY DIFFERENT from the Deep base 7300. Finally I found a paint that wasn't super reactive and causing WONKY cells (of which I am not a fan). In this diptych you will see the two bases side by side and you can pick which one you like better...I know which one I like better. They both are good options but for me the Behr 7753 is a better fit. It could be different for you and that is AWESOME...that's what make us individual. Materials I used in this demonstration: 2- 12"x24" Deep Edge Gallery Wrapped Canvas (ARTIST LOFT LEVEL 3) Amsterdam: Titanium White, Olive Green Deep, Sky Blue Light Pebeo Studios: Iridescent Blue Green Golden Fluids: Prussian Blue Hue, Teal, Turquoise (Phthalo) Pourage Posse Paints: Knockoff Arteza: Pearl Red Ochre Colored Pearl Recipe: 4 parts Behr Satin Enamel Deep Base 7753 Scuff Defense OR 2 parts Behr Premium Plus Deep Base 7300 3 parts US Floetrol 2 parts tube paint or 1 part fluid paint (to tint) 1.5 parts Golden Gloss Color Pouring Medium (Or 1 prt GAC800 & 1/2 prt Liquitex Pouring Medium) Water to thin (approx 4 parts depending on Behr satin enamel ratios) White Pearl Cell Recipe: 2 Pts Behr Premium Plus Deep Base 7300 1/2 part Artist Loft Paint 1/2 part Apple Barrel White 1/2 (or up to 1) part Liquitex Titanium White 3 Parts US Floetrol 1.5 Parts Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss (or 1 pt GAC 800 plus 1/2 pt Liquitex Pouring Medium) Water to thin (approx 2 pts) Pouring Medium for puddle and Dutch pour paints: 50% Floetrol 50% Golden GAC 800 (or Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss) Puddle & Dutch Pour Paints mixed 1 pt paint to 5 pts PM and water to consistency (tube paint approximately 1 part water, fluid paint no water) (This is the ratio for highly pigmented paints like Golden, Amsterdam, Pebeo, etc) No silicone used for cells.
