Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits Bass Cover #sultansofswing #direstraits #basscover The first single from Dire Straits’ self-titled debut album released in June 1978, Sultans of Swing reached number 4 in the US Billboard charts and number 8 in the UK. The song and album were recorded over Feb and Mar 1978 at Basing Street studios in London. The lyrics recount a story of lead singer, Knopfler, walking into a near empty bar in Deptford, London, where a jazz band were playing. They were named The Sultans of Swing. Fun Fact: Knopfler used a borrowed 1961 Fender Stratocaster to record the song. He still has the guitar and did not offer it as part of a major Christie's auction in London in early 2024 selling his collection and raising over $11 million. The collection did include his famous "Money for Nothing" Gibson Les Paul (a reissue) Tuning: standard. E A D G Gear: Fender Standard Precision, flat wound strings 45-105, Boss LMB 3 Limiter Enhancer, Zoom B1 Four X, Roland Mixer Pro X
