Follow me @zaneteknits on https://go.zaneteknits.com/instagram. This is a knitting demo where I’m showing how you can do a folded hem without any sewing. This technique can be used when you want to have double layers or thicker fabric such as around the neck in sweaters or the brim of a hat. It works when knitting flat or in the round, for any ribbing, stockinette or any kind of stitch pattern. I’m showing the technique on simple 2x2 ribbing knitted in the round. As I’m going to be folding the work in half lengthwise, I have to make sure I’ve done double the length needed. Another thing to keep in mind that there should be the same number of stitches on the needles as the are in the cast-on round. To begin, fold the work in half, bringing the cast-on edge up so it’s parallel with the needle and making sure the beginning of round stitches align. Before knitting any of the stitches on the needles, simply pick up a stitch from the cast on row and knit or purl (depending on the pattern) together with the stitch that’s already on the needle. I hope you found this video useful, let me know what you think or if you have any questions in the comments below. Thanks for watching, byee!
