Not all border crossings are the same.. Before arriving at one be sure to have the correct information! WILD LAOS - We Couldn't Cross into Vietnam from Laos We make our way from Muang Khua to Muang Mai in the province of Phongsali.. the closest large village to the Laos - vietnam border crossing of Sop Hun - Tay Trang. It was a last minute decision to try and make our way across, a decision that should have been made before travelling this far. since covid there have been some changes and you can not just arrive at this border and expect to receive a visa on arrival to enter Vietnam. It has to be arranged before hand and given a letter of approval. All was not lost though, it was still a village we wished to visit, and we got help some people along the way. Now we continue back the way we came to Muang Khua and then onto Muang Xai in oudomxai to get the car repaired... That's another story.. Enjoy!
