THE POWER 9 are the key lifestyle habits that Buettner identified from his research that contribute to longevity: MOVE 1. Move Naturally – Regular, moderate physical activity as part of daily life. RIGHT OUTLOOK 1. Purpose – A clear sense of meaning and direction. 2. Down Shift – Routines to shed stress, like prayer, naps, or social time. EAT WISELY 1. 80% Rule – Stop eating when 80% full to avoid overeating. 2. Plant Slant – Diets rich in plant-based foods, especially beans. 3. Wine @ 5 – Moderate alcohol consumption, often with friends or food. CONNECT 1. Belong – Engagement in a faith-based or spiritual community. 2.
