ULTIMATE SUBARU OFFROAD COLD STREAM RIVER TASMANIA $1000 TRACK 3 DAYS ALONE BROKEN IN THE MUD

13th of January we took the Forester back to Waratah for a second crack at Tasmanias wild Cold Stream River {aka $1000} track, this time on a solo mission. We set off Thursday at 4pm and spent the next 2 days battling mud, jumping teeth on timing belt, busting winches, blocked radiator and building bridges to conquer the track and reach the hut. With more spare parts than we could carry {basically a full drivetrain} we were about as well prepared as could be. There is no phone coverage or easy means of contacting help so we had to try cover all bases. If things went south then there was a pretty long walk to phone coverage before being able to call for help. Do not assume that because a Subaru made it through this track is not that bad. I was ready to spend a week if that's how long it took. Conditions were about as good as they get with no rain for a while previous to us going. We got lucky with great weather but drop the temperature and throw in some rain n things can get less fun pretty quick. Just saying, go prepared!
