I heard this wonderful American boys' choir perform last night here in Venice. I have always loved the Mozart Requiem and so I made a little video of the 'Lacrimosa' which they sang so beautifully. The choir got an extremely warm Venetian reception and there were many encores and several standing ovations at the end of the performance. This wonderful young American choir has performed at some amazing places and events, including St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, St. Mark's Basilica here in Venice, and St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. They've also appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Shanghai Concert Hall, and the Hong Kong Cathedral. In addition, they've sung at the U.S. Capitol for President Barak Obama's inauguration, and they regularly perform with the San Francisco Opera and Symphony. The Lacrimosa (Latin for "weeping/tearful"), is part of the Dies Irae sequence in the Catholic Requiem Mass. Lacrimosa dies illa Qua resurget ex favilla Judicandus homo reus. Huic ergo parce, Deus: Pie Jesu Domine, Dona eis requiem. Amen. Full of tears will be that day When from the ashes shall arise The guilty man to be judged; Therefore spare him, O God, Merciful Lord Jesus, Grant them Eternal Rest. Amen. The San Francisco Boys Chorus (SFBC) is an internationally acclaimed, Grammy-award winning, not-for-profit music education and performing arts organization at the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area’s cultural center. The chorus serves over 240 singers from 50 Bay Area cities and more than 120 schools at four Bay Area locations. Artistic Director: Ian Robertson Organist: Michele Liuzzi
