UK-based PEMBREE Ltd uses Autodesk Fusion 360 to sustainably design and manufacture a growing range of mountain bike components. Since the business started, in March 2020, PEMBREE has focused on minimizing the environmental impact it has on the planet. Phil Law, founder, and product designer, states “All of our products are designed with sustainability in mind and are 100% carbon balanced, this goes beyond design, manufacture, and sourcing our materials, but also our consumables and packaging through to delivery. In accordance with our environmental values, our pedals are 99.9% recyclable and carbon neutral. Everything we do is sustainable – even our factory is powered entirely by solar and wind power.” Fusion 360 has played a central role here. Integrated CAD and CAM workflows enable the team to rapidly develop designs and convert them into CNC machined prototypes and production parts with minimal waste and resource consumption. PEMBREE’s investments include multiple 3- and 5-axis CNC machines – such as its Haas VM3 fitted with a 5th-axis rotary unit, and a robot-loaded Brother Speedio. All CNC machines are programmed using Fusion 360 and take advantage of the additional capabilities provided by the Machining Extension cost option. Fusion 360 helps the PEMBREE team to extract maximum value from its CNC machinery, by using in-cycle probing, automated part alignment, and advanced 5-axis machining strategies. These all help PEMBREE to produce parts to the exacting levels of precision and performance demanded by its ambassadors, and biking legends, Rob Warner, Tomas Lemoine, and Daryl Brown.
