This is, without a doubt, the biggest and most impressive breakfast buffet I’ve seen in recent memory — maybe ever. I’ve experienced a lot of resort breakfasts, but this one stands out in every way. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or as a couple, this breakfast will easily become one of the highlights of your stay. The Size and Selection First of all, the sheer size of the buffet is mind-blowing. Picture an entire room dedicated to breakfast, and then add multiple outdoor made-to-order stations on top of that. It feels like every breakfast craving you could possibly have is already thought of and prepared for you. There’s an overwhelming variety of both local and international dishes, which means you could easily eat here every morning of your trip and never have the same plate twice. Made-to-Order Stations – The Star of the Show The made-to-order stations are where this buffet really shines. You have: • Omelet station: Fully customizable with a huge selection of ingredients — from fresh vegetables to meats and cheeses — and cooked exactly how you like it. • Crepe and waffle station: They’ll make you fresh crepes or fluffy waffles, topped with fruit, Nutella, whipped cream, or syrup. This was a hit with the kids and honestly, it was one of the best waffles I’ve had at a resort. • Mexican station: This is where it gets really special. They have traditional chilaquiles, tacos, and even breakfast tamales — all cooked fresh and authentically. If you want a taste of Mexico first thing in the morning, you have to try the chilaquiles with green sauce. The International Spread If made-to-order isn’t your thing, don’t worry — the buffet itself is loaded with options. You’ve got: • American classics like bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. • Mexican dishes like conchas (sweet bread), tamales, and fresh salsa with tortilla chips. • Asian options like fried rice, miso soup, and dumplings. • Cold cuts and cheese station with charcuterie-style meats, cheeses, and freshly baked bread. • Fresh fruit and yogurt bar with pre-cut tropical fruit and fresh yogurt parfaits. The Quality of Food The quality of the food here is what really sets this buffet apart. Every station is restaurant-quality, not just standard buffet food. The eggs taste freshly cracked, the fruit is ripe and sweet, and the baked goods taste like they came straight out of a bakery. Even the coffee was excellent — smooth and rich, not the watered-down resort coffee you sometimes get. The attention to detail was noticeable too. For example, the crepes were cooked with the perfect level of crispiness, the tamales were moist and flavorful, and the guacamole was made fresh in small batches. Little things like that make a huge difference. The Atmosphere and Service Another major highlight is the oceanfront seating. If you get there early enough, you can grab a table outside with a direct view of the turquoise Caribbean water. It’s the perfect way to start your day. The service was top-notch, with servers quickly refilling drinks, clearing plates, and even offering recommendations. Despite the buffet being massive and busy, we never felt rushed or neglected. I’ve stayed at a lot of resorts, and I can confidently say the breakfast buffet at Hyatt Ziva Cancun is in a league of its own. The size, variety, quality, and service are unmatched. It feels less like a typical resort buffet and more like a curated dining experience with something for everyone. It’s hard to put into words just how impressive this breakfast is until you see it for yourself. If you’re staying at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, make sure you don’t miss breakfast — and come hungry, because you’ll want to try a little bit of everything. This buffet alone is worth 5 stars.
