Getting down to the concept of rhythm with maybe some bounce, eventually, for the Melodeon.net Tune of the Month. Not a submission YET but I am getting closer. This is the end of a longer practice session that I had fun with (thus the silliness at the beginning, it was chaos to this point). The trick is engaging the rest of the instrument (the player's body) at some point which when you're new at an instrument like I am to melodeon it at first feels funny and can throw you off. You can see once I start moving more where it drops off and I get back in my head as I get to the end of the practice. Bellows control (I wasn't giving them enough air) was an issue here too. Am playing for the most part without looking at the sheet music (I'm staring at my mic not the music toward the end, just so you know.) FYI the mic I'm using is a little Apogee HypeM/C which picks up the instrument and my voice better than others I've had so I really do recommend it for such a use, and is compatible with my computer and mobile devices (iMac, iPhone) and can be set up to filter external noise but in this instance isn't. I'm also playing inside a "blanket fort" which has essentially 2 walls of moving blankets, an extra blanket to close the third "wall" and sound foam on the 4th wall and another moving blanket on the floor. It's a movable "practice carrell" and handy in the condo as it decreases the sound transmission from where I'm practicing and also filters out a lot of the air conditioner noise so that I can stay cool while I'm practicing.
