Rock Crushing For Gold - Back Yard Prospecting - Gold Detectors - https://highplainsprospectors.com – 888-236-6580 In this video we are crushing some rocks we have collected from various prospecting trips and even a couple from landscaping beds from all over. The goal is to find some gold in it. We know where the rocks came from and can go back to get more later if we want. Scrap Iron was also metal detecting our yard while I crushed rock and found a 1959 silver dime with his Garrett AT Pro. This little rock crusher was attached to a small air chissel. The mortar was about 6" deep and the pestle was about 8" long. To make the pestle we had to cut off the end of a chissel and weld on a 2" long by 2" diameter metal "hammer" on the end. Unfortunately the hardened steel must have gotten a little brittle in the welding process and the end broke off. So, we did not get to go through the best of the material. We'll get it fixed and try again. Also, the compressor we had was a small 5 gallon pancake compressor I had at my house. It petered out pretty quick and I had to keep waiting for it to charge up. Next time I will take it to The Ranch and use our large compressor. Other than that it worked great. The whole set up is about $60 to get set up.
