Dr. Ravul Jindal delivered a powerful talk on the critical importance of vascular health and its connection to diabetes prevention. He began by stressing how cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of death globally. Dr. Jindal explained that many of these deaths could be prevented by tackling diabetes, a condition that arises from high blood sugar levels. This excess sugar can lead to the blockage of veins, a potentially fatal complication. Furthermore, Dr. Jindal underscored the urgency of seeking medical attention if a wound does not heal within a month, as delayed treatment can lead to severe outcomes. He revealed that most amputations among diabetic patients could be avoided with proper treatment within the first week of injury. Dr. Jindal’s talk served as a wake-up call, urging the audience to prioritize vascular health, monitor their blood sugar, and seek timely medical intervention to prevent severe complications and improve overall well-being. With over 26 years of experience, Dr. Ravul Jindal serves as the Director of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. His unmatched expertise in peripheral arterial and venous interventions is backed by an impressive academic journey, including an MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, an MS in General Surgery from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and a Fellowship in Vascular Surgery from St Mary’s Hospital, London. He also holds the prestigious FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr. Jindal is the visionary behind the "Amputation Free India" initiative, aimed at reducing preventable limb loss through increased awareness and access to quality healthcare. A global thought leader, he actively participates in international conferences, influencing the future of vascular health and global healthcare delivery. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
