As 12 Aldeias Históricas de Portugal são um dos seis destinos reconhecidos pela Organização Mundial do Turismo como uma inspiração e um exemplo de boas práticas no setor a nível internacional. Feitas de granito e xisto, estas aldeias conservam histórias e tradições antigas, surpreendendo quem as visita graças à suas paisagens deslumbrantes, ao património único e à simpatia das suas gentes. A distinção da OMT surge como um reconhecimento do trabalho realizado nas áreas da reabilitação urbana, acessibilidades e sustentabilidade. Na série “Sustainable Destination” viajamos precisamente até à aldeia de Castelo Novo, no Fundão, para conhecer um projeto pioneiro de mobilidade elétrica, que proporciona aos residentes e turistas uma alternativa de locomoção mais acessível e limpa. Neste episódio, e ainda no Centro do país, há tempo também para dar um salto até ao Oeste, e mais concretamente à Lagoa de Óbidos. É aqui que se localiza o Rio do Prado, um hotel ecológico que procura ao máximo reduzir o seu impacto no ecossistema envolvente. Nesta unidade, os alojamentos estão semienterrados para aproveitar o calor da terra, a água dos banhos é reaproveitada e cada hóspede pode até medir a sua pegada ecológica. --- The 12 Historical Villages of Portugal are one of the six destinations recognized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as an inspiration and an example of good practice in the sector at international level. Made of granite and schist, these villages preserve ancient stories and traditions, surprising visitors with their stunning landscapes, unique heritage and friendly people. The UNWTO's highlight is a recognition of the work done in the areas of urban regeneration, accessibility, and sustainability. In the "Sustainable Destination" series, we travel to the Portuguese village of Castelo Novo, in Fundão, to learn about a pioneering electric mobility project that provides residents and tourists with a more accessible and cleaner way of getting around. In this episode, and still in the center of the country, there's also time to take a trip to the West, and more specifically to Lagoa de Óbidos. This is the location of Rio do Prado, an ecological hotel that does its utmost to reduce its impact on the surrounding ecosystem. In this unit, the lodgings are semi-underground to take advantage of the earth's heat, the water from the baths is reused and each guest can even measure their ecological footprint.
