Tuberculosis sanatorium. Mental hospital. Reception centre for asylum seekers. Decay. The 100-years-old walls of Harastolen have seen it all. Now they tell their stories. At the far end of the largest fjord in Norway, high up in the mountainside, lies a lonely gigantic building. 16,000 square feet. Apart from the size, the decay is what hits you when you see it. Once it was a modern hospital and a seperate functional society. Today, the only thing left is decaying walls and the stories of what they have seen. So what lies hidden in the history of Harastolen? In this documentary some of the people who knew the place when it was at its prime, tell their stories. Director Charlotte L. Helleland has together with Photographer Ronald E. Hole experimented with HDR, timelapse and other techniques to bring the walls of this magnificent building to life once again.
