ESTACADA in Jeremy Campbell's words: ESTACADA Driving along Highway 224 near Estacada Oregon I came across this stretch of river that had a been devastated by an extensive forest fire in 2020. The charred black tree trunks giving contrast to the new flourishing vegetation and green growth was so inspiring to me. Mother Nature left alone to her devices will recreate something even more lush and beautiful than before just given enough time. In the natural world fire is actually an important process that rejuvenates habitats, releases nutrients, promotes plant regeneration, controls pests, clears undergrowth for sunlight, and increases overall biodiversity and resilience. I really had a great time flying the drone along this amazing place. When I sat down at the piano looking through the footage for some reason I started hearing this piece of music in my head somewhat reminiscent of an old upright piano playing in the corner of a western saloon back in the late 1800’s.
