Not everything with 🚨red lights and sirens 🚨is a fire truck🚒! At the JCFD, our #firefighters use a variety of specialized vehicles to keep our community safe. In our first #ApparatusSpotlight, we highlight the most common apparatus in our fleet – the engine, which is also known as a pumper. Think of it as the 💪dynamo of all-hazards response, a giant rolling fire hydrant with a dedicated crew ready to tackle fires, medical calls, and rescues. The JCFD has 9 engines – one at each station. Our engines carry between 500 and 750 gallons of water and pump up to 1,500 gallons per minute. On board, you’ll find a three-person response team: a lieutenant, a driver/engineer, and a firefighter, all trained to respond quickly when you need us most.
