If you have had Lymph Nodes surgically removed or radiated because of Breast Cancer, you may be concerned about getting Lymphoedema. Lymphoedema can occur in the affected arm, or in the breast and chest wall if you have had Radiation. It is an unpleasant side effect of Breast Cancer Treatment. One of the simplest ways you can help prevent Lymphoedema is maintaining your skin barrier. Anything that penetrates the skin barrier or causes skin breakdown is a possible entry point for bacteria to get into your system and potentially cause a local skin infection, trigger cellulitis (a broad skin infection) and ultimately trigger Lymphoedema.
