Morning Prayer for receiving God's mercy and letting go of shame - The prodigal son rehearsed his apology the whole way home. He had it memorized - every word, every reason why he didn't deserve to be called a son anymore. But he never got to finish it. Because his father was already running toward him. If you've been rehearsing your shame instead of receiving His mercy, this prayer is your road home. Scripture: "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." – Lamentations 3:21-23 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." – Romans 8:1 That voice that says you've asked for forgiveness too many times - that God is tired of hearing your name - that you should clean yourself up before you come back to Him - that voice has a name. It's called condemnation. And it doesn't come from your Father. Shame tells you to hide. It tells you to stay away from God until you've earned the right to approach Him again. But if you could clean yourself up on your own, you wouldn't need a Savior. And Isaiah 43:25 says God blots out your transgressions for His OWN sake - not because you deserve it, but because mercy is who He is. The record you're terrified of? He already shredded it. Together we'll stop rehearsing our shame, receive the fresh mercy that's already waiting, and walk into this day not as someone on probation with God - but as a child who just came home to a Father who was already running.
