President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on political leaders across Uganda to embrace principle-based politics rooted in patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy. Speaking at State House Entebbe on 19th Feb 2026, where he met leaders and elders affiliated with the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) from 10 districts of the Lango sub-region, President Museveni emphasized that national progress depends on shared ideology and programs rather than party labels. “The label of the party is secondary. What is crucial is what you support and the programmes you stand for,” the President said, urging leaders to focus on unity, stability, and addressing real challenges such as hunger, disease, and economic empowerment. The delegation was led by Maj. Gen. Keith Katungi, Commander of the 5th Infantry Division. During the meeting, leaders pledged to work collectively with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the social and economic transformation of Lango and Uganda at large. NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hon. Hamson Obua, welcomed the engagement as historic, noting that unity and cooperation are critical for sustainable development. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peace, stability, and infrastructure development, including key projects aimed at boosting connectivity and livelihoods in the region. This engagement marks a significant step toward issue-based politics and national unity in Uganda. #Uganda #Museveni #NRM #Lango #Unity #Transformation
