Inauguration of the Rehabilitated and Improved Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Iloilo Fish Port Complex Barangay Tanza-Baybay, Iloilo City August 13, 2025 Signaling a major boost to the country’s fisheries sector, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the inauguration of the rehabilitated and improved Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) in Barangay Tanza-Baybay, Iloilo City on 13 August 2025. Funded through the PFDA’s Multi-Year National Government Subsidy with a contract price of PhP885,135,614.00, the port’s rehabilitation was finished in March 2025 and now features modern facilities and increased capacity to better serve its clients and stakeholders. The Complex is equipped with a 390-kilowatt peak (kWp) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system with 1,152 of 370-watt PV solar panel modules mounted on key structures, including the new market hall, refrigeration building, cold storage facility, commercial building, public toilet and administration building. This project not only cuts electricity costs and improves operational efficiency but also aligns with the President’s call for sustainable and climate-resilient fish ports by reducing the facility’s carbon footprint. Serving as a bustling hub of fisheries and trade in Region 6 (Western Visayas), the PFDA-IFPC is home to over 1,400 industry players who drive the Region’s economy. Inside the new market hall are 21 licensed fish brokers supported by 369 helpers, 503 fish viajeros with 344 helpers, along with 66 major overland fish suppliers, seven (7) fishing vessel operators, and 37 retailers assisted by 74 personnel — creating a connected and fast-moving fishery supply chain from sea to market. Alongside the inauguration, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 6 (DA-RFO 6) distributes agricultural interventions worth over PhP37 million. These include farm machinery and equipment such as four-wheel tractors, corn mills, corn shellers, hammer mills, rice combine harvesters, village-type rice mills, forage choppers, and fiberglass boats with engines — tools designed to boost farm and fishery productivity, efficiency and resilience. The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) also conducts a ceremonial turnover of indemnity checks to rice and corn farmers severely impacted by consecutive flooding caused by recent monsoon rains, further worsened by Typhoons Crising, Dante and Emong. ****** Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom and www.facebook.com/rtvmalacanang YouTube: @RTVMalacanang Tiktok: @RTVMalacanang
