Temple Highlights: Budhan Sthalam: Since this temple corresponds to Planet Mercury, devotees pray here for wisdom, education, and business growth. Offering green clothes or green gram (pachai payaru) is a common practice. The "Window" Secret: The Perumal here is huge (Bhujanga Sayanam). While you can see his body and face from the main sanctum, his Holy Feet (Thiruvadi) can be seen only through a small window in the outer corridor (Prakaram). This is a unique feature of this temple. Lotus Stem Connection: A lotus stalk rises from the Lord's navel and reaches out to a flower on the wall where Lord Brahma is seated. This depicts the creation story beautifully. The Legend: It is said that Bhoomidevi (Mother Earth) got angry with Lord Vishnu for spending more time with Sridevi and hid herself in the netherworld. The Lord went there, pacified her, and brought her back. Hence, he is also called Bhoomipalar (Protector of Earth).
