Are you confused about the job description of some of the recipients of your OET writing tasks? Do you know what a lactation consultant or a residential home warden actually does? I'm a doctor from the UK, and an OET preliminary provider English Tutor, and I will attempt to explain these roles and how you should use this knowledge for the OET writing task. I was asked to make this video by OET self study ( / Канал ) to help clarify some job roles. I have attempted to summarise all of the many potential recipients of an OET letter. Of course this is a huge topic so I have had to summarise and over-simplify some job roles in order to cover everything in a relatively short video. I have used the UK healthcare system as a point of reference, but the Australian healthcare system is very similar. The roles I have covered are as follows: Doctors: General Practitioner (GP) Surgeon (often with the title “Mr/Ms” in the UK) General Surgeon, vascular surgeon, ENT surgeon etc Obstetrician, gynaecologist, ophthalmologist Medical Specialists: Gastroenterologist, Endocrinologist etc Physician (Acute Physician, Respiratory Physician) Paediatrician Anaesthetist Intensivist Radiologist Emergency Medicine Specialist Junior Doctor Nurses: Matron Community Nurse District Nurse Practice Nurse Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) Nurse Practitioner Advanced (Care) Practitioner Allied Health Professionals: Physiotherapist Occupational Therapist Midwife Radiographer Dietician Speech and Language Therapist Operating Department Practitioner Technologist/Technician Lactation Consultant Paramedic Optician Non medically trained professionals: Social Worker Warden Nursing Home Manager (clarify, possibly also a nurse) Practice Manager Medical Secretary I really hope you find this video useful! Let me know if there's anything else you want me to cover in the comments! Subscribe for more OET and medical English videos! Here's where to find my other stuff!
