In the fall of 2023, Renault unveiled the updated version of the 5th generation Clio, which could be described as significant, keeping overall characteristics but featuring a new lighting design and updated front end. Just like the Volkswagen Golf and other iconic vehicles, a few years ago it was believed that Clio would transition to only electric power with the growing popularity of electric vehicles, making the sixth generation a logical choice in the world of EVs. While there has been a leveling off of the boom, Renault already offers the R4 and R5 electric mobility duo. Does it make sense to introduce a Clio EV at this time? Yes, eventually, but Renault acknowledges that it's not happening anytime soon as the model is still very popular in Europe and there is some time before any changes will be made. So, a Clio 6 will be available in both thermal and hybrid models, but not electric just yet. Despite discussing a new generation, it will still use the existing CMF-B platform, which has been updated, as Renault lacks a new platform for vehicles of that size, and doing so would not be logical with the impending shift towards electric vehicles. The new exterior design will retain certain elements from the current one, like the concealed rear handles (unfortunately), the upward-sloping waistline towards the back, and a hint of sportiness. The front area is set to undergo a drastic transformation, looking distinct from the brand's recent products, particularly the electric ones. Internally, the dashboard of the upcoming vehicle will include elements from the R4 and R5 electric models, along with features inspired by the current Clio such as door panels and central console.
