A revisiting of the April Fool's event "aircraft" shortly after the game's release. This is revised footage of my gameplay from a video published by Aeternali that year. Clipped and edited for time, addition of picture in picture stills and video for added info and lulz. The Sleipnir was interesting in that it was the only special event vehicle that WG has released in any of their games that were used by the game population at large in normal random battles, instead of in the hands of a select few (Like the Salem Witch / Phantom Fortress in Warships two Halloweens back) or in a special battle mode populated entirely by the special vehicle (Tanks races and the Karl Gerat). This had a bad effect; the Saucer was widely hated, to the point that even Jingles (who was refusing to do any Warplanes videos at the time) came back to the game to mock WG for putting the Haunebu into the game. Now, the Saucer was not a bad war machine in its own right; in fact, in the hands of a good pilot who knew what it could and could not do it could perform well and even carry in a tier VII match as a tier V light fighter. Here's what was great about the Sleipnir I fighting saucer. 1. Every shot it made that hit had a very high chance of starting a fire. Like, ridiculously high. 2. Inertia and physics meant nothing to the saucer's gravimetric drive. Stall speed of 50kph? No problem. Boost from nothing to 580+kph in under two seconds? Also yes. If you had boost available you could climb straight up to 3km altitude no problem. 3. Incredible yaw rate allowed her to change directions instantly and almost without warning. Now the bad, and there was quite a bit. 1. Haunebu was huge. The saucer is an enormous target that has no armor and only 200 health. 2. Boost duration was short; a saucer caught with an exhausted engine was a dead saucer. 3. Each hit from her main (and only) weapon only caused 1 damage. Starting fires was how you killed things in her. That's it for this time-travelling episode. Until next time... ...Good hunting!
