During The ICE at St. Moritz I filmed this 1966 Austin Mini Moke 'Mini Surfer'. California customiser George Barris produced many novelty cars for Hollywood including his most famous, the Batmobile seen in the 1960s TV series 'Batman'. He was later engaged by the Beach Boys' label, Capitol Records, to create a special version of the hip and very 1960s Mini Moke for the company to give away in promotions with local American radio stations. Twenty-five 'Beach Boys Mokes' were built, to a unique design of white with red stripes and red, fun-fur-covered seats. In May 1966 Capitol released Pet Sounds, often considered the group's finest record and one of the greatest and most influential albums in popular music. This car was given away by the WHK radio station in Cleveland Ohio in August 1966, having been shipped by air freight all the way from LA where Barris Kustom Industries was based. It's believed to be one of only three survivors and the original red paint has turned a dark brown over time. It comes with its original Con Colburn surfboard. Groovy baby!
