Welcome to #EdLeighsMoneySavingSnowTips | Ep 30 | Brexit Can you Brexit-proof your ski holiday? Not without travelling before 31st January, which if you’re able to do so is a good plan anyway this winter as it’s already been dumping in the Alps and early season conditions look awesome in places. You can look at the snow status in all the other resorts on SnowForecast and if you haven’t done so already make sure you sign up for a Snow Forecast dump alert for your favourite resort. But if you want or are stuck travelling after Jan 31st or across that date you shouldn’t stress too much, though there are some things you can do to protect yourself. Firstly, check you have at least six months on your passport. If you’re driving check your vehicle registration paperwork is in place and apply for an international driving permit. Check the terms of your travel insurance and make sure it includes healthcare as EHIC cards may not be valid after Jan 31st, also check if they’ll cover you for Brexit-related travel delays and cancellations as not all policies will. Another very important one…free mobile roaming charges across Europe will stop when we leave the EU so check with your mobile operator to see what your future charges will be. There is meant to be a cap on charges though, but it’s worth double checking. If you’re booking a holiday, using an operator with ABTA protection makes sense and whenever there is uncertainty paying for things on credit card is also sensible, so you’re covered if anything goes wrong. Is it worth pre-loading cash on a currency card before the election? Possibly not according to the FT which suggests the pound will avoid a crisis this year but honestly who knows!? It also makes sense to pay for things you can book now, such as accommodation, and ski hire. To offset your irritation with the ongoing mess, Intersport are running a special BREXIT promo code until 12th December (Merry Election day!) to cheer you up. UK skiers and snowboarders can use it here at checkout to get a great discount on hire. That’s all for this week but please do share any helpful, non-partisan Brexit ski trip tips you have below! #edleighsmoneysavingsnowtips #edsnowtips
