In this video we visit Aircraft, a station on the Werribee Line in Melbourne's south east in the suburb of Laverton. Here we see various Metro Trains Melbourne electric multiple units arriving and departing the station, including Comeng, Siemens, and X'trapolis EMU's. While here we also see the Great Southern long distance passenger train passing through heading towards Adelaide with locomotives NR30 & NR31. The Great Southern is a luxury long-distance passenger train operated by Journey Beyond that travels between Adelaide and Brisbane along the east coast of Australia between December - February when The Glan between Adelaide and Darwin isn't running. Afterwards we then see some trackside clips around the area, including from the new Maher Road overpass, and a nearby pedestrian crossing in-between Aircraft and Laverton stations. Aircraft station opened on the 7th March 1925 as Aviation Siding, before being renamed to Aircraft Siding on the 10th May 1927, and Aircraft on the 19th March 1963. Aircraft station was rebuilt in 1964 when it was relocated to its current site, and converted to an island platform in 1968 when the line to Werribee was duplicated. The current station building was provided in the 1990's. The station was located adjacent to the Aviation Road level crossing, which was removed in stages between 2019 - 2022. This included the construction of the Maher Road road overpass which opened in September 2019, and construction of a new pedestrian access providing access to the station which opened in March 2022. Also apologies that the audio quality in this video isn't as good as usually is. I would have been messing with different microphone settings while recording this video which resulted in less depth than usual, particularly for objects further away. The fact it was relatively windy on this particular day didn't help either. Date: December 2022. Subscribe to ThebusofdoomFSX: https://www.youtube.com/user/Thebusof...
