Branchial cleft Sinus, Branchial Cleft Fistula or Branchial Cleft cyst develops because of abnormal development of branchial clefts in neck region. They may manifest in later childhood or in young person as abnormal swelling in lateral part of neck or as an opening with some discharge. These swelling or discharging sinus or fistula may remain asymptomatic or may start increasing in size. They may develop infection and cause problem. Children are more prone to infections. They may not require any treatment if very small but needed surgical excision if they are symptomatic.
