A Utah family is pleading with a health insurance company to reconsider its decision to deny coverage for their 9-year-old daughter's new prosthetic arm. Born without a hand below the elbow, Remy Bateman has relied on prosthetics throughout her entire life, and her parents said this advanced bionic arm, called a HeroArm, would be life-changing for their daughter. According to Remy's mom, Jami Bateman, Select Health declined coverage, labeling the device “not medically necessary,” despite the Batemans’ claims that it would greatly enhance Remy’s quality of life.
