State Pardon For Adedoyin: Osun Governor Denies Plotting To Pardon Convict |Nigeria Tonight|26-06-23

Rahmon Adedoyin, a well-known businessman who was given the death penalty, was the target of a pardon plan, according to the governor of Osun State in southwest Nigeria. The murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, was blamed on Dr Adedoyin and two members of his staff. Despite the fact that the student's body was discovered at Dr Adedoyin's Hilton Honours Hotel in November 2021, the verdict wasn't handed down until May of this year. Through his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Ademola Adeleke stated that there is no intention on the part of the state administration to pardon the prisoner.   In his words, “Governor Adeleke has not and will never contemplate exercising the prerogative of mercy or whatever the report calls it, on a matter under adjudication which has generated deep interest among local and global communities,” the spokesman said.
