12" EP released in 1987 by italian New Wave/Rock band Rats, from Spilamberto, Modena. "L'Ultimo Guerriero" is in the middle ground of Rats sound: an underground look but a search for catchiness: those tunes that remain in your head and never leave you, 'cause of captivating guitars and generational anthem voices. We start immediately very tight with track that gives the album its name, the bass that pushes a lot of Punk, Wilco's guitar that alternates Rock rides with riffs of the period: the italian New Wave. The increasingly obsessive choirs and riffs, but they never tire. The arrangement is a very fine poetry. "Giovani Forme" is the second track, it talks about "tests of courage to be men", to become men, something that recalls some themes of the next "Indiani Padani": but here the voices are young, almost adolescents, much more credible. The highly arpeggiated "Tudor" is another classic of these middle Rats, two or even three guitars, always played in concert and which opened the band's only live album: the semi-untraceable "Vivo" released in 1989. The album closes with "Notti Di Mostri", rather obscure text written by Claudia Lloyd, the nervous and dark voice of "C'Est Disco".
