One of the most ruthless and notorious Emperors in History was Genghis Khan, the Emperor of the Mongol Empire. He came from nothing and built one of the most feared empires of the Medieval period and his forces were known for their skilled quick fighting. Khan was known for being a man who would put his enemies to the sword, but he made a number of significant developments inside of his Empire. But he was a warlord and his final campaign was one too far, as in 1227 he fell from his horse and then grew sicker. Genghis Khan died on the 25th August 1227 but his burial site has still been lost but a legend emerged about this and this was that everyone who witnessed his burial was executed to keep this a secret. The legend claims that over 2000 people were executed by guards, and then the guards were slaughtered by other senior army officials who then fell on their swords. Meaning no-one witnessed the burial site of Khan because of his execution.
