CHEAPEST Way to Get to Machu Picchu | Cusco to Aguas Calientes on a Budget | Peru

EPISODE 134 - November 2019 The time has come for us to hike 12km up to Aguas Calientes - the base town of Machu Picchu, in order to save $350CAD! The journey starts out in Cusco, where you will spend at least one night to acclimatize to the high altitude, and purchase your round trip colectivo tickets. The following morning you'll depart Cusco at 7:30am, have a 6.5 hour drive and reach Hidroelectrica around 2:00pm. That is where you will start your 12km hike to Aguas Calientes. It's quite an easy hike, that is, if you leave your large luggage back in Cusco or Hidroelectrica. It's along a river and train tracks, and pretty much flat the entire way.
