Max drives his new powerchair, thanks to ATmakers (2017/05/15)

Max has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1, a life-threatening genetic disease affecting motor neurons. http://www.maxstrength.org In this video, Max realizes a goal we have been working towards since before he turned two -- independently driving his own powerchair. While we demonstrated Max doing this last year on a loaner powerchair (with a prototype switch box Yahnatan designed and assembled), this is the first time Max drove himself on his Permobil K450. He is using a fully-functional version of the switch box, designed by Bill Binko and available through ATmakers.org. We are very grateful to Bill and ATmakers for helping Max reach this goal.
