Commemoration on the 40th Anniversary of Declan Flynn Killing in Fairview Park. (Part 1of 2).

This year saw the 40th Anniversary of the killing of Declan Flynn in Fairview Park. The tragic event was the catalyst for the launch of the first Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride march - it began with a protest, it is still a protest, but now also includes a celebration of identity and culture. A commemoration and celebration of Declan’s life was recently organised by Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride in conjunction was members of Declan’s family. This week LGBTQ+life will share with listeners our exclusive report from that event. The speakers here include Paul Flynn (Declan’s brother), Phillippa Ryder (Chair, Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride), Val Hourigan (Dublin Lesbian Line), Oisín O’Reilly (Outhouse), Aifric Ní Chríodáin (ShoutOut), Colette O’Regan (LGBT_Ireland) and Brian Sheehan (LGBTQ+ activist). The speakers were linked by Jed Dowling (Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride) who acted as MC for the day.
