GEORGE REMEDIOS is the singular driving force behind 'The Turning Tide' an environmental group in Mumbai have focused on tree plantation and have been building Urban Food Forests in Mumbai in many locations which redirects huge amounts of biomass or biodegradable waste to these sites in order to create humus, which would otherwise be burnt or sent to a landfill leading to ground water, soil as well as the air pollution. All this, in addition to helping people recycle for a good cause as well as compost biodegradable waste is what makes George a true hero of our time. Climate change is a very real issue and it is having a huge impact on our air quality which directly affects our lives. RESHMA SHELATKAR, a professional tutor in academics by the day, turns into a vigilante for animals by evening. For the past 15 years, Reshma has been feeding nearly 300 animals, 3 times a day, without funding and using her own income. Since she has no team to help her out, she does what she can to provide love and care to the stray animals who live in her area. To bear the burden of her fellow human beings’ callous actions takes a gargantuan amount of courage and compassion, and that is precisely why we decided to tell Reshma’s story through our song ‘Main Hoon Zameen’. The world could definitely do with more individuals like Reshma.
