Please see our previous video to see what not to do - this is a follow on video. Your friendly local #electrician serving #Medway & #Maidstone showcases his most notable residential bathroom extractor system to date. We inherited a poorly bathroom extractor fan that was no longer working as expected - and for good reason. Kevin wants to take you through some of the design principles we like to follow when we fit our favourite bathroom extractor fans in the loft space. When we fit a bathroom extractor fan, we first want to make sure we're specifying an extractor fan up to the job. We might want to think about where it will be located, how much noise we want to put up with, and how it is triggered and controlled, and for how long it stays on for. We then want to think about how we are expelling this moisture laden air out of the property. Are we going straight out of the wall, or do we need to duct it? If we're ducting it, how long is the run? Is the airflow resistance acceptable? Is the ducting going in a cold space where there's chance of condensation? if so, are we insulating the ducting, introducing a condensation trap? How can we gain height early and introduce a fall for the condensation? How are we mounting the fan and supporting the ducting? Are we minimising bends, and if bends are required, are they at an acceptable radius? Is there anything causing unwanted drag? These are the questions we need to answer when we are designing and installing a duct system for a bathroom extractor fan in the loft. It's not always as clear cut as it seems! This is a bit of a how-to guide for installing bathroom extractor fans in the loft. Do you require assistance?
